I know you've heard for a very very long time that explaining is important. All of us know that 25 divided by 5 is 5, but because the man in the suit was not great at explaining he could not make Ma and Pa Kettle believe him. Sadly because Ma and Pa Kettle are persuasive their arguments are believeable.

They are both right. In Halley's example, $108/6 weeks = $18 per week. In Alma's example, $108/6 weeks = $18 per week and $54/3 weeks = $18 per week.

ReplyDeleteIt equals Halley. I know this because if you divide 108 by 6 it equals 18 because 6 goes into 10 1 time which would be 4 then bring down the 8 then 48 goes into 6 8 times.
