INTEGER UNIT REVIEW

KTo review we threw a ball at the smart board over and over. Each time the ball made contact a review question appeared. Talk about engaged. Kids couldn't get over the fact that I was allowing them to throw a ball at the smart board. Full of energy and got some reviewing done. Good times.

Test is tomorrow!!!!

ORDERING INTEGERS

Today we worked on ordering integers. Making sure everyone first remembered absolute value from yesterday. Each student was given an integer and was then directed to sort themselves from least to greatest. Round one they could talk to each other and offer assistance. Round two they were not able to talk.

After the integer activity students went back to their math notebooks and wrote a short message or list about discoveries they have made about the integers they placed on the number line. Some students wrote about how the numbers looked and talked of ways to remember that negative numbers get bigger the further they are from zero. However, their value decreases. Finally, students completed a quick assessment by cutting and glueing integers into their notebook on page 27 and 28.
