GETTING READY FOR THE RATIO & PROPORTIONS UNIT TEST

Today in class students are completing a practice test with about 15 questions. This is at least 2 from each of the topics from our unit. After the practice tests are graded each student will be give specific homework problems that address only his or her errors from the practice test. Below is a picture of the practice test and the homework problems.

Are you still using your fingers? Do you put your hands under the table so no one can see?

Many kids are still doing this. Please take a look at the touch math picture below and try to start using this instead of your fingers. I think with a little practice you will do great and you will see improvement in your grades as well as your confidence.

Directions:
1.) Cut along the lines to create the 12 pieces to the puzzle.
2.) Select a card with a problem and then solve it and look for the answer on another piece, this will be its match.
3.) Continue working problems until you have all the pieces put together. You will know you are finished when you figure out what Mrs. White thinks of you!!!!

PERCENT PROBLEMS - RE-DO

So I decided we needed to have a little more teaching on Percent Problems and using the formula. Students in class practiced the 3 F's. Formula, Fill-In, and Final Answer.

The following pictures are examples that were completed in class. I found a super fabulous app called
Air Sketch that works with Google Chrome and allows me to write on my iPad (from anywhere in the room) and it project on the Smart Board.

BINGO!


Today in class students are playing BINGO for a review of percents. They each are given a list of all the answers to fill out their BINGO cards. Each BINGO CARD has a section for the students to show their work.

RATIOS AND PERCENTS

Today we are going to be using ratios to help us solve percent problems. These videos are going to lead us through a great review of ratios and help us get started using what we know to solve real world problems involving percents.
Today in class we watched videos 1 through 3 and then completed this worksheet. We will finish the series tomorrow and prepare for our quiz on Thursday.
