A number is divisible by ……..
2 – if the last digit of the number is even.
3 – if the sum of the digits makes a multiple of
3.
4 – if the last 2 digits makes a multiple of 4.
5 – if the last digit is a 5 or 0.
6 – if the number is divisible by both 2 and 3.
9 – if the sum of the digits make a multiple of 9.
10 – if the last digit is a 0.
Students were then given a note card with a number on it. Around the room I placed posters with categories I chose;
- Divisible by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9. & 10
- Divisible by 2, 5, & 10
- Divisible by 2 & 4
- Divisible by 2, 3, 4, & 6
- Divisible by 2, 3, & 6
- Divisible by 3 only
- Divisible by 5 only
Students were then instructed to find their correct location in the room. I used this activity as a quick formative assessment to see how well they are understanding the rules.
