MULTI-DIGIT MULTIPLICATION

Back in the swing of things......Not so much. I am struggling to keep the blog updated. Today I will catch everyone up. Today we assessed on Multi-Digit Multiplication using Kahoot, which is always a good time. However, I do believe it wasn't fun for all. Tomorrow everyone will do some more problems just in case the issue on the assessment was due to the timer. Below is a picture of today's board.

PLACE VALUE OR SHOULD I SAY PLACE & VALUE

I have found that a large number of students have a misconception involving the values of digits in a particular place. I think this is due to the name of the concept, "place value." If students are asked to locate a place or a digit in a place they do well. When asked to give the value of the digit in a place, they often are confused as to what they are supposed to do. The following anchor chart was shared in class and really seemed to help them quite a bit. Since that discussion students have practiced the skill on Prodigy, completed a group discussion activity, and have been assessed on the skill.

COMBINATION LOCK PRACTICE!!!!!!!

The least favorite thing about starting Middle School is the LOCKER. This site is the best practice I have ever found for working those combinations. You get to enter your own combination and practice it over and over until you have it mastered.

Thank you Hoodamath.com teachers everyone appreciate you. Click the link below and enter your combination to practice.
