INDEPENDENT AND DEPENDENT VARIABLES

THESE NOTES WERE PRESENTED AND WRITTEN ON PAGE 43 OF THE MATH NOTEBOOK.

To continue our discussion and to help everyone understand Independent (aka input) and Dependent (aka output) Variables I showed everyone this picture.

Students recognized that the wood chips must be the dependent variable because they depend on the tree limb in order to exist. Students also understood better when we understood independent variable are the same as the input and the dependent variable is the same as the output. 

MORE WORD PROBLEM PRACTICE - EQUATIONS

Students will be working the entire class period to create and solve equations from the word problems on their worksheet.
