MONDAY SEPTEMBER 9, 2013

Today in class we will be finishing up the decimal operations test. If students have already finished they will be working more problems and will be practicing showing their work (Very Important)

If we have time students will begin to get ready for our next unit on Integers. Students will be filling out a KWL sheet on integers (its ok if they don't know much.....YET) On the back of their chart is a list of important vocabulary words and concepts that will be focused on throughout the unit. Students will also have a chance to read some imformative text about integers and perhaps have a better understanding of what we will be working with for weeks ahead.

INTEGER PRACTICE

Today in class we began working with integers to get everyone ready for 7th grade. Students were introduced to the many ways to solve integer problems.

We worked with the rules today for addition
**When the signs are the same you add and keep the sign from the problem
**When the signs are different you subtract and keep the sign of the larger number

With subtraction problems you must first add the opposite. Change the subtraction sign to a plus and switch the 2nd number to its opposite.

Here is the homework for tonight 1-15
