INTRODUCTION TO THE 4-QUADRANTS

In class today we discussed a quadrant 1 activity we did for review. We then branches off of that to talk about the other 3 quadrants. The above notes were taken and discussed detail by detail as I clicked through the slide. I love slide animations! The last 2 slides were to allow us time to practice naming points and fininding points. Tomorrow is the real test of plotting points.

BUSY DAY - MULTI-TASKING

Today in class students were turning in their homework, getting their new weekly homework, finishing their Prodigy assignment, quizzing over ordering integers from least to greatest and reviewing plotting points in the 1st quadrant.

While all of this was taking place students were called randomly to draw 6 rocks and arrange them from least to greatest order.

ROLL AN INTEGER

In this activity students were given a shacker with a penny and two 12-sided die inside. Below is a picture of our shakers and the example we worked through on the board. Finally there is a student example showing her final product.

DECIMAL DIVISION NOTECARD ASSESSMENT

If students did not make a 100% we had a quick conference and they got an additional attempt to make a 100%. If this attempt was unsuccessful they had another conference and 1 last attempt. They were able to keep their highest score.

After the assessment students took notes from the board over an introduction to Integers. This was to be written on page 18 of their notebook. For my students who need accommodation I gave them a copy with words removed for them to fill in the missing word from the board. They could then just tape their paper to page 18.

Lastly students used the keywords to help them write an integer for each situation on a practice worksheet that I found on http://www.math-aids.com

MULTIPLYING DECIMALS - QUICK ASSESSMENT

All students were given an envelope with a mystery word inside. On the outside was a multiplication problem and a post-it note.
1.)Students had to work the problem.
2.) Students then ordered themselves by their answers in least to greatest order.
3.) When they were confident in their placement they opened their envelopes to reveal their words.
*this was a super activity for a quick assessment over 2 skills.
