"L" METHOD PRACTICE

Students were given a small amount of time to work these problems. After working, all correct answers were to be written down. All incorrect problems should be reworked.

DIVISIBILITY PRACTICE

THIS IS A SLIDE BY SLIDE COPY OF A POWER POINT I FOUND ONLINE. WE CLICKED THROUGH THIS QUICKLY TO SEE HOW WELL THE STUDENTS COULD USE THE RULES.

DIVISIBILITY RULES

THERE WILL BE A QUIZ TODAY TO SEE IF KIDDOS HAVE MEMORIZED THE RULES. AFTERWARDS, WE WILL BEGIN WORKING WITH EACH RULE TO DETERMINE IF A NUMBER IS DIVISIBLE BY.....

INEQUALITY WORDS

Students are writing these notes in their notebook on page 44.

INDEPENDENT AND DEPENDENT VARIABLES

THESE NOTES WERE PRESENTED AND WRITTEN ON PAGE 43 OF THE MATH NOTEBOOK.

To continue our discussion and to help everyone understand Independent (aka input) and Dependent (aka output) Variables I showed everyone this picture.

Students recognized that the wood chips must be the dependent variable because they depend on the tree limb in order to exist. Students also understood better when we understood independent variable are the same as the input and the dependent variable is the same as the output.

MORE WORD PROBLEM PRACTICE - EQUATIONS

Students will be working the entire class period to create and solve equations from the word problems on their worksheet.

Thanks you math-aids.com

1/7/2016 PRACTICE/HOMEWORK

We discussed #1 and #2 and worked through them together. Students were responsible for finishing the page in class or for homework.

WRITE AND SOLVE EQUATIONS FROM A WORD PROBLEMS

This is an example we worked together. Coached all the way from start to finish. I recommended that students write the important details above the problem as they would appear in their equation. This would show them the pieces that they needed to put their equation together.

SOLVING INEQUALITIES MATCHING ACTIVITY

Kiddos were given this grid full of inequalities and a sheet of graphs stapled together. These sheets will be turned in for a grade.

Instructions:
1.) Solve the inequalities.
2.) Grab the sheet of solutions from the stool. The solutions must be cut out and glued on top of the problem it matches.
3.) After all gluing is finished, the students must match the graph to the solution. On the graph pages students were asked to write the number of the solution next to the graph.

SUBSTITUTION & SOLVING EQUATIONS REVIEW - "IS THIS THE SOLUTION?"

On this sheet students will practice substituting to see if the solution is correct. If it is not correct, they must check mark the "NO" box and then solve the equation to determine the correct solution to the equation.
